What is Parchment Paper and how does it differ from Wax Paper?Updated 8 months ago
Parchment Paper is coated with silicone, which makes it nonstick and also heat-resistant. It can be used for lining baking sheets or cake pans, layering between cookies, and covering a work surface, just to name a few.
The biggest difference between Parchment Paper and Wax Paper is that Parchment Paper is grease and moisture-resistant paper specially treated for oven use. Wax Paper has a thin coating of wax on each side, making it nonstick and moisture-resistant too but unlike Parchment Paper, it is not heat-resistant and should not be used in the oven because the wax could melt, or even ignite.
